Not Rejected by God

I was reading in Genesis this morning (one of my favorite books of the Bible), and as I was pondering the story of Jacob, Leah, Rachel, and Laban, a major Biblical truth really struck my heart.

Poor Leah---she was so rejected!!  Jacob didn't want her, nor did her father.  She was less than beautiful, not sought after, and totally rejected.

And yet---God chose her!  He did not reject her and, in fact, he chose her to be the mother of Judah, who is part of the lineage of Christ.

Instead of allowing beautiful Rachel to be part of the seed of the Messiah, God chose the ugly, unloved, rejected Leah.

This is a beautiful picture of how God feels about those who are rejected by the world.
